A Practice for Everyday Life
At Ashtanga Yoga Birmingham, we’re here to make Ashtanga yoga accessible — without the dogma or gatekeeping.
Yoga isn’t reserved for a select few. It’s a practice for people navigating everyday life. We believe that consistency, compassion, and community are what actually matter, not how deep your backbend is or how long you’ve been practicing.
We use a sliding-scale model because financial barriers shouldn’t keep anyone from this practice. We honor your autonomy and create space for authentic connection.
Our goal is simple: to offer a supportive environment where you can explore yoga as a path to insight, wellness, and transformation—and we believe Ashtanga’s approach is uniquely suited for exactly that.

What We’re About.
Committed Teachers
Our teachers are dedicated practitioners with extensive training. We teach from ongoing practice and direct experience, and we’re committed to supporting your growth with honesty and integrity.
Accessibility
Ashtanga adapts to different bodies and abilities. Our Mysore-style format allows everyone to work at their own level and pace—whether you’re brand new or have practiced for years, there’s space for you here.
Consent
We offer hands-on adjustments, but only with your ongoing consent. You can opt in, opt out, or change your mind at any time—no explanation needed.
Discipline & Balance
Ashtanga invites you to show up consistently, work through resistance, and stay committed. But the practice is also about balance, rest, and meeting yourself with kindness. It builds awareness and discernment—learning when to push and when to ease back.
Community
Community happens through shared effort. You practice alongside the same people week after week. When your motivation falters, the community carries you. When someone else needs it, your presence does the same.
Presence Over Progression
A simple practice done with full attention is more transformative than an advanced sequence on autopilot. The posture you’re in matters less than how you’re showing up for it. Depth and insight can appear anywhere in your practice.

The Bottom Line
Come as you are. Practice what you can. Grow at your own pace.
New to the practice or curious about getting started? Learn about the method and find the best place to start.
We’re glad you’re here.
